Never heard about Forest Bathing? Keep reading till the end.
Have you ever felt like, or told yourself that you do not know enough? Ever compared yourself to others who seem to have all their ducks in a row and all the knowledge?
Or: Do you sometimes find yourself simply going around in circles, looking for a crack in this matrix called life to get you moving forward?
And then, allowed that - or whatever else is going on in your world - to hold you back?
Could it be that one reason, among a myriad of others, is it’s too much NOISE?
Is perhaps SPACE what you would benefit from?
Space from the noise of the outside world? Or - more importantly - from your INNER world? You know, those never ending trails of thoughts which in the end is sending you into a downward spiral of shrinking yourself?
When in the midst of all that, it is easy to overlook the simple practice of PAUSING. How about creating a pause by taking a walk in nature?
No scrolling on your phone
No listening to podcasts
Just you and nature (and possibly your dog? I know I would take mine along)
Only silence
Breathing
No trees pushing you towards goals or unresolved tasks
Simply paying attention to nature’s subtle sounds
Could this enable you to connect to the space needed for clarity, more confidence, remembering who and how you are here to operate?
More knowledge and discipline is not always what keep you from moving forward. Inner noise often does.
What you desire, and results are often best created from the inside out.
When you feel like your brain is fried and your focus is nowhere to be found, remember to PAUSE. It doesn’t have to be a walk in nature. I could be as simple as closing your computer, leaving your phone at home, breathe and go for a walk around the block. Anything to empty your head.
Do it, not to perform or prove yourself. Do it to create presence.
Here is something that may be of interest to you:
Shinrin-Yoku - Forest Bathing
Quoting from a pdf that you can download for free to support you in silencing inner and outer noise:
‘Forest bathing’ or ‘shinrin-yoku’ was coined by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in 1982. The practice involves immersing oneself in the atmosphere of the forest and connecting with its essence.
A beautiful practice that can of course be done in other environments as well
AND:
To connect to the essence of the forest from your own home, there is an amazing essential oil you can use topically or in a diffuser to fill your surroundings with this lovely smell. An invitation to pause and focus
(fun fact: smell is the only sense having it’s very own brain cell. Hence the power of smell)
The beautiful pdf on Shinrin-Yoku can be downloaded for free here.
Scroll and read about the amazing essential oil here.
Also, here is a link to learn a little bit more about essential oils
My hopes are that this inspires you and creates an invitation to PAUSE more often. To slow down, centre yourself, reconnect and remember.
